When was the Rawalpindi Ring Road proposed?

The Rawalpindi Ring Road was first proposed in 1997, but it has yet to be constructed despite its immense significance. The project had to face many controversies, including a corruption scandal that halted progress. The government has picked up the Rawalpindi Ring Road after the government. Here are some details about the Rawalpindi Ring Road and its current status.

The impact of Ring Road on Kingdom Valley Islamabad.

Location

Rawalpindi Ring Road is a highway being constructed between Islamabad & Rawalpindi. The Ring Road has 3 lanes & runs 65.3 km. It has eight interchanges along with a total of 4 service stations. Rawalpindi Ring Road will run from Rawat region in Rawalpindi to Sangjani, passing through Adyala then Bahria town on its way.

Current Progress

There had been a meeting between the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the chief minister of Punjab, Usman Buzdar. The meeting resulted in the decision that the funding of the Rawalpindi Ring Road will be funded by the Capital development authority for the area of the highway outside Punjab. At the same moment, the remainder of the cost will be given by the Punjab government. It was also decided that a part of the Rawalpindi Ring Road will be connected with Islamabad’s Margalla road. There is still no date given to complete the Rawalpindi Ring Road. The project worth around 30 billion rupees will be completed within two years once the construction officially starts. The council identified several problems in the previous map, and hence it was rejected. The new and improved map of the Rawalpindi ring road is currently being made by NESPAK, after which it will be given to the Prime minister.

Rawalpindi Ring Road Issues

The Punjab administration refused to approve the Rawalpindi ring road due to severe problems. The road could cause significant traffic congestion in the neighborhood. The state had requested that the officials devise a plan to ensure that traffic flowed freely. On the other hand, the officials have yet to come up with a remedy to the transportation congestion. The National transport research center chief has stated that controlling heavy trucks from the Rawalpindi Ring Road will be difficult and stopping them might not be possible. Ten thousand trucks cross the Islamabad highway, which will be diverted towards the Rawalpindi Ring Road.

Why should the government construct the Rawalpindi ring road?

Because the range is less, it will save transit time and gasoline. These elements are necessary for a region’s economic activity to thrive. Rawalpindi ring road connects all of the significant points of interest in the urban areas. It simplifies as well as fastens up the time of getting to the airport.

Furthermore, it facilitates travel to remote districts of Islamabad, like Bahria Town as well as DHA Islamabad, and strengthens relations among the two regions. Furthermore, access to previously inaccessible locations would be facilitated. As a response, the values of real estate in the area will skyrocket. As a result, the ring road will boost the housing prices and increase redevelopment. In that location, there are already a number of real estate’s housing organizations. This route will benefit these civilizations as well, and rates have certainly begun to rise.

Conclusion

The Rawalpindi Ring Road is a project worth 30 billion rupees and carries immense significance. It will improve the infrastructure, but it will change the dynamics of the economy in areas located around it. The areas surrounding the Rawalpindi Ring Road have already grown in value and with many prominent investors purchasing property there. We hope that the government solves all the problems and construction is started as soon as possible.
